When they fit 'factory air conditioning' to a car, various other components are uprated or changed in some way to cater for it.
For example, anything involved with the heater/demister/ventilation system in the dash will altered to cater for the addition of the evaporator & ducts etc. The belt drive system will be altered also. The radiator will be larger & a bigger fan & shroud will be added. Extra items like plumbing & condenser are added under the bonnet.
Other things like suspension springs & shocks will be uprated because of the increase in overall vehicle weight.
Wiring harnesses will be different & other things altered that you don't even think of, like petrol tank fittings with extra pipes for vapour lines etc.

Yeah i understand that and i believe i have most of the bits or know what the different parts are, but have no clue on the fuel step up where would the vapor return line go special pump or carbie? was that fitted because of higher under bonnet temps?

Hi, The HQ 308 with a/c had a fuel seperator ( part # 2820246) that scewed into the carb fuel line and this is where the vapour retun line connects to . The seperator looks like the inline filter from a 253 , but angled at about 30%, with a small pipe fitting spouting from the filter housing. Hope this helps Mark. |
