Greetings all. I am trying to install a Hitachi alternator in my EH. Wiring is the issue! - HELP!...
The car was running fine... I took out the generator but left behind the original regulator - it is a bosch with three wires labled B+ DF D+ The alternator is a Hitachi with LT-150B 109(-) 23100 P0102 - ISO stamped on the top of the casing. On the back of the unit is a T-shaped connection labeled F and N and on the body there is a screw hole labeled E and a bolt labeled A.
My research shows that this unit was used in Datsuns and needed an external regulator.
Can anyone tell me if these two are compatible? AND - if so, how do I go about wiring them up??? I know I should probably take it to an auto elec but I'm priding myself on learning as I go and completing the majority of this project on my own!
Thanks in advance!

Personally, I'd ditch it & use a common VN-VS V8 85A Bosch item. Very common, cheap, easy to source parts/replacement, and it bolts up to the red 6 bracket.
You may need to rotate the rear casing to get the reg in the right spot - that's as hard as it gets.
It only needs 3 wires to hook up - battery charge wire (thick one) brown wire to the dash light, and white wire to the battery (for voltage sensing). |
Cheers,

I doubt the regulator & Hitachi are compatabile. I'd be using an internal regulated Bosch alternator.
One wire connection. |

The old generator's regulator will not work with the Hitachi alternator,
As the others have suggested just use a later Holden/Bosch alternator which will fit straight on with no mods.
Use one off any Holden 6 or V8 from HJ to VK, including the brackets. These have an internal reg, so no extra wiring is required.
You can still buy a new Bosch unit (part no. BXH1238A) with a 70 A output to do the job.
