Does anyone know why GMH used the relay shaft type bendix brake booster
on early HK models ?
My guess is the booster was sourced from GM,from another model then adapted to HK until simpler and cheaper, long input shaft type was tooled up.
Just interested to know, cheers

Thanks: 2 times
Don't know why the relay type was originally used, but it was used on early HK's and was superseded in the mid '68 upgrade by the straight through pushrod type.

My HK Prem is a mid March '68 Brisbane build and has the relay booster, no notch on the drivers side inner fender skirt, skinny round steering wheel, front door window cranks in a different location, etc.

I based my thoughts on the relay being later production only on the HK parts manual showing both straight through and relay then in HT parts manual only the relay assembly is shown. Maybe HT revert to an early HK brake system after finding the straight through rod rubbish?
