Hi Monman71,
I had mine done a few years ago, stripped it myself and bought most of the parts ($2000) then took it to a local engine builder.
That cost about $4000 which included heads machined, hardened valve seats, rebore, acid bath, cam supply and install and fully reassembled. At the time I didn't know he was useless, and subsequently spent $9000 to have it stripped, new cam and bearings, mains and big ends, balanced, oil pump, gasket set etc. to have it put right!!! It ran fine on the test bed as part of the above cost.
It was a good job I did have it pulled down again, as what we found from the first build was shocking and the engine would have been wrecked when first started up!!
It is a bit of an open ended question, as you never know how bad things are until you get into the motor.
The only advice I can give is go to a reputable local builder!!
Hope you have better luck than I did.
Hope this helps.
