That engine number is mid-HT, so late 1969 or so.

There is a casting date code on both block & head, so if you could post those numbers, we can decode them for you.

Thanks Dr.T, will have a look tomorrow. Nov 1969 car build date. Can you give me a hint as to where to look for cast date codes as motor is jammed in a corner of shed with no room to move. Thanks
