Hi all, I have a cruze equipe that I purchased 4 weeks ago brand new. I have taken it for its 3000km service and found it had been recalled due to the righthand drive shaft which is understandable. Now I have found out that it need a whole new gearbox. I know this is all covered under warranty but im not really happy that my brand new car needs all this work. Im just curious as to whether I am within my rights to want a new car or I just have to accept it. I am just not that happy with the fact that I spent all this money and it needs all this work. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It does seem unfair that possibly the only "appliance" that you can buy and if defective cannot return to the store of purchase for a full refund is a car. I suggest a call to Consumer Affairs but I think you know what they will say. |

true, when you think about it, if it was an appliance you would be going back to the place of purchase and demanding a refund or replacement. I guess another question I have is that does the sort of work that's being done on my car make any difference to its performance down the track? I know its a brand new gear box but does it make a difference to have had it replaced?

No idea. Dr Terry might have a better idea when he sees this. |

You buy rubbish you get rubbish. One of my brothers bought a new Great wall, yep he knew it was rubbish but that's the chance you take. Just be happy they will fix it, they don't on the great wall as they fob you off.

The return and get your money back only applies in the first 7 days, after that they either replace or repair. Had this with a TV lately.

Places like DJ's and Myer will normally give you a new appliance if the one you bought plays up. |

Put it down to teething problems. I've had a few cars that had this sort of problem when new but went on to give great service.
