Hi all.
Would anyone be able to tell me how to dismantle a GTS door mirror so I can paint the shell to match body colour? I have the actual mirror glass out already ( used a heat gun to soften the glue?? behind) but now need to remove the inner workings for prep and paint.

I did mine recently. If you want to remove the stems for chroming, you need to use a sharp scalpel and cut the inner support where it is glued to the outer shell. Don't pull the ball and socket joint apart as it will never go back together and be tight enough again!!
Once the inner support plate is removed, there is a nut and spring washer that can be undone to release the arm from the shell.
After all is painted and chromed, refit the stem and glue the inner plate back into position.
The cutting is the bit that needs care.
