im after some info on ball joints for my hg belmont.ive read that moog ball joints uppers k5108 and lowers k5103 for some early chevs are the same as the ones in the hg.can anyone confirm this and if so do you recommend them.
also i bought a new pair of standard height 6cyl king springs khfs-02 but they are about an inch shorter than the springs i took out of my car.im thinking that maybe at some stage someone has fitted v8 ones as they measure 305mm(have a workshop manual for v8 hg and it matches the specs) to the new ones at 280mm.the number stamped on the old springs is 7431724.does anyone know what height standard 6cyl hg springs are?

Aftermarket springs are shorter as a static spring, they don't compress as much as originals.

I used the Japanese 555 brand ball joints for the GTS after taking advice from a number of people. They seem to be good quality and certainly appear better than some of the cheaper aftermarket units. The car isn't on the road yet so I can't tell you how they last.
Cheers.

didnt come across any 555 ball joints ,ended up having pedders replace a lower ball joint, free fitting so figured i'd give them a try.their standard size was 1mm bigger than the original though dont know if thats the case with all ball joints for the older holdens now.hoping it dosnt cause problems down the track if i need to replace it again.

I bought some NOS lower control arms with balljoints and rubbers for my HJ Premier to replace the cr@ppy aftermarket ones put on in 1999. I wasn't sure what aftermarket ones were any good at the time.
