Check out this Hg Brougham 9th built Adelaide. Factory fitted GTS bonnet, guards, dash, steering wheel, wheel trims, T bar auto,3.36 lsd salisbury and tank, power windows, air, steer, factory rear electric aerial, factory electric sunroof, with special mix paint and one off trim material ,factory Ht rosewood inserts amongst other weird things it has on the body ID plate after trim SPEC SPEC. This is would have to be something special for a top head at GMH.

I didn't think HGs had factory sunroof, let alone an electric unit.

Assumingly it once had a vinyl roof due to the condition of the roof.

I have around 10000 paint codes and of course 5443 is not amongst them, would have been a beautiful car when new.

A lot of these 'special' builds had many extras not available to mere mortals. There was a HB Torana if my memory serves me, which had a GM-H fitted sunroof. Warren or Ben would have more on that one.

Also. I doubt you or I could have had that trim or a GTS fluted bonnet factory fitted.

Or Terry a 10-bolt in a Brougham! It always amazes me how many of these "specials" still survive today.

So even though this was on a car that was built by Holden. It was not a 'Factory' colour, option or trim. It was 'Special'

I find it a bit annoying when people think it becomes a 'Factory' colour, option or trim, just because one special order was made.

I think that the term 'factory' is used here to mean factory-fitted, not a regular factory option.

Not referring specifically to this vehicle. Just the generic 'rare' usage that people use just because only 18,000 of that colour were made? Or 'rare' because only 256,000'ish EH's were made.

I work on cars often that only 1, 2, 3, 10, 50, 100 etc were made in total of body. That is rare. Cord, Tucker, Ferrari 195, Austin Healey 100S, EH S4. AC Cobra (real), Aston Martin DB4, etc. Personally in my opinion I am over the 'rare' term, unless it is real.

Factory fitted as opposed to aftermarket. I would call that Brougham rare.

I'm over all 'rare' cars. Cut, chop, hot rod, V8, whatever. Just make it not 'factory'

Just my own personal opinion.

Fair enough Peter, what would be a better way to describe the parts that are fitted to this car that are not aftermarket?

Yeah fair enough. I would say this car is in the 'rare' description with it's assembly line parts. Not many 'SPEC' body plates out there.

I would still cut, chop, modify it if I owned it.

Yep makes it rare like EH S4 with its sintered brake linings.

Maybe better wirds are "rare options for a Brougham". Aside from the special colour and trim, you will never see assembly plant fitted GTS bits on a Brougham, let alone a Salisbury, Rally rims. Just to find one today with air, steer, power windows, reclining buckets, T-bar and LSD is not common

I think I can see it in a motor show photo, alongside the GTR-X. Has sunroof, power antenna and quad exhaust outlets but doesn't have rally rim covers on it.

Greetings, You got it in one. This was obviously a show car that some big wig would have wanted. The Body ID plate is self explanatory. Note that the trim (vinyl) is HQ late type just like the cloth material pattern (herringbone-design). I doubt it would have had Rally rims, rather just the standard wheel/tyre with perhaps a special wheel trim. There is a shot of a car that could be this actual car at the Adelaide show in 1971. It looks like it has Chevrolet wheel caps on it there. But a super Brougham just the same. That colour by the way is listed as simply Blue.
look out, the guru is coming through...
