HK GTS compartment (boot) light wiring

I accidently disconnected the positive brown wire for the boot light. It has a insulated female end. I only have a HT/G GTS wiring diagram which shows it goes to a connector used for all the rear lights. It also joins to the rear interior lights.
I cant find that connector though its possibly long gone. Im worried that the positive line to the boot light is an uninsulated male end flopping around in between panels.
Does anyone know where the connector is, if it exists and how the brown boot light positive wire is routed to the boot?

Many HKs had their boot light lead connected to the tail-light harness at the plug near the right-hand tail-light. With this set-up the boot light will only work when the tail-lights are switched on.

The wire lcation will depemd omn when your HK GTS was built.
Early cars did not have a boot light and many were fitted with the accessory boot light by the dealers. These were connected to the tail light wire and only worked when the parkers or headlights were on.
Later cars had the wire connected to the driver's side rear quarter light.

Thanks Warren. On the later cars, you say they connect to the drivers side rear quarter light, by this do you mean the interior light?
Does the interior light lens just prize or twist off. What about the lens frame holder. Where does the interior light wiring route and is it a brown wire.

Yes, rear quarter light = interior light in the rear pillar.
The 2 wires at that light will be orange & white. The orange wire is the power wire.
I think you will find it easier to reconnect it at the tail-light wiring harness plug.

The one you are describing is for an early car, not a late car.
You cannot "accidently" disconnect the late ones as they do not "connect" to the interior light, they are part of the wiring.

Thanks Terry and Warren.
Not sure if mines erarly or late. body has hk36030A stanmped into it. Plate has 80737-699-A.
The wire from the boot light seemed to go above the wheel arch next to the body. When I pulled on it , it came out with a factory style insulated female terminal. But it might have been done by anyone. There was also another dodgy joiner spliced in. Its been off the road for a long time and I cant remember if the boot light needed the parkers on. I might wire it that way, certainly easier and if that was the way factory ones were, why not.

Mine must be a late version. Found a positive factory brown wire leaving the divers side rear quarter light. Unfortunately its not a straight path back to the boot but will work out a way to find that wire hiding in there.
