Hi All, Have recently bought an HR Premier sedan and am seeking help to clarify i.d. tags. They are: HR235AR-46080M Trim: 1204-F42 Paint: 587-1703 Insert: 122 Top: D 585-9562 Firewall Stamp: HR48684M M Firewall Small Metal Tag: M 120666 Engine No. 186A171006 I know most of it I think but may as well ask those with the knowledge. Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe the 122 code means 186, powerglide and front discs. Possibly also means sedan but not 100% sure if a wagon with the same mechanical specification used the same code or not. |

Thanks for that, but, Warren doesn't 235 mean sedan and 239 mean wagon? Also, does that mean the engine numbers started at 1000? Are you able to say that this engine number looks about right for the original engine as I don't have the original purchase receipt/service booklet. Do you know what the Small Metal Tag on the firewall means: M 120666? It has the X2 or 186S multiple gauge in it. Could this have been optioned or has someone just put it in? Anyway of dating the car? As far as I know it is a 67 model. Thanks again for your help and knowledge.

It is a Premier Sedan, Warren has had a brain fart, we all do it!
Engine numbers started at 1001, so yours is actually the 170005th HR engine.
As far as I am aware the M120666 is the early version of the PSN (I think called plant sequence number or serial number or words to that affect). This should be the 120666th vehicle assembled at the Dandenong assembly plant since a certain date. Warren or Dr Terry will have more knowledge on this. |

Yes as Byron siad, brian fart.
the enigne is the 17006th, 1001 is the first enigne, so 1002 is second etc. Common error to remove 1001 when you need to remove 1000.
The car is NOT an X2 or 186S, and AFAIK the dash is not aseperate itme. Do not have enough to know if engine is right for this car

The X2 instrument cluster was available for HD & HR as a factory option, PO number 580 (imperial units) or 581 (metric units).
It was also available a Nasco accessory kit (7429681 - imperial units) where they could be dealer-fitted at the time of sale or fitted by anybody after that time.

It is an Adelaide built HR Standard sedan painted Grecian White.
The interior trim is single tone Dover Blue.
