I thought it was body colour, not silver.

Heres a new one for you Warren they were painted but only on kingswood model utes, most had rubbed off after a few years, hence not many people know about it.
But i need a colour to give the sign writer so he can mix up the paint(it was a metallic type look)so i am told.

At a guess, I'd say it was just the same silver paint as used on the rims.

The rims were not painted in the same factory and it is a different paint line. But if you used that colour would anyone know.

You would ned to mask up and spray rather than sign write.

No-one would know if you used a satin silver paint. Holden must of used a stencil as the two tailgates that I've seen the silver was sprayed on and not exactly centred to the embossed letters.

Is it metallic silver? If so no wonder you never see it, the silver would have gone off after not many years as it wouldn't have had any clear over it, like the Brougham gold features.

Trouble is metallic needs clear or it won't last. HT's with Gold stripes had to have them applied as part of the paint process so they'd be covered with clear, whereas the cars with black stripes had them done in the finishing areas. So unless the HK Kingswood utes were metallic they'd not get clear. So my guess is it'd be a non metallic.

Rims were enamel (222), so it may be the same colour but not the same paint. Plus as Warren says these were painted in a different area of the plants. It could be the same paint type silver as on the rocker panels of HT Brougham.
