It's natural zinc coated sheet steel in the boot, and black on the underside. The end covers in the boot are black.

Just to baseline this discussion, I assume you are talking about a 25 gallon fuel tank for a HK, T or G Monaro? Strictly speaking not really a "Bathurst tank", just as there is no such thing as a "Bathurst Monaro", unless of course you have an actual car which competed there, which might rightly be called a Bathurst Monaro. Or not. Others more knowledgable than I will confirm, but I believe the 25 gallon tank was optional on other models besides the HK327, HT350 and HG350, (81837 models).
I actually said end covers, which are the covers in the boot which protect the fuel pick up, breathers and filler pipe from the bags of concrete, dead bodies, mothers in law and anything else you may want to throw in the boot. ( or dead roos in the case of my car, which I purchased from a roo shooter, complete with dead meat smell....) They cover the ends of the tank and its pipework, and are inside the boot. They are separate from the tank itself, and I'm now starting to regret metioning them! I hope that helps.

Holden fuel tanks and fuel filler pipes were manufactured from a material called Terne Plate,as were all Ford, Chrysler vehicles etc. Terne coating is mix of 20% to 50% Tin and the rest Lead,[ Lead later replaced with Zinc } I worked at the Adelaide factory that manufactured many holden components including fuel fillers, were these parts were dipped in the Terne coating tanks. Bundy tube was coated with Terne until 1993.
