My hk Kingswood is still rolling on Dunlop 6.95/14 crossply tyres. For safety I'd like to replace them but retain the oiginal rims.
What is the widest tyre that could be fitted to the original rim without causing any rubbing on the body and without effecting the speedo accuracy.
Any advice appreciated.

Have a look here:
http://www.vintagecarcon...ize_conversion_chart.htm

The closest today would be 185/75/14 or 195/70/14.

Note that you could also fit an optional HK tyre size for the 5" rims like 7.35/14 by using different speedo gears and this is close to 195/75/14 according to the above website.
I'd talk to a tyre shop and get their opinion too, especially if looking at 195 tyres on 5" rims. The other option would be to buy some new ROH 6" HT-HG rims, slightly different offset but it'll open you up to tyres like 215/65/14 or 205/70/14.

If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords?
