Hello. I've not been in this forum for yonks.
My question is how hard is it to put a set of VE SV6 rims
Onto my missus' VR shopping trolley. It has a live rear end.

I know to fit VE rims onto my V2 or VZ the centres had to be bored out to fit. Probably the same for VR. |

The stud pattern is the same but VE uses a bigger rolling diameter than the VR.
This will cause you speedo to read incorrectly unless you go to a lower profile tyre or use a correction device of some sort.
If the wheels are 18" with a low profile tyre going lower still will limit your tyre choices and increase the cost per tyre.
This is all without making sure the offset will clear everything.
There are also restrictions on how much you can change wheel diameters, widths and vehicle track.
Might be better to borrow some wheels and tyres before you go ahead with a purchase.

As well as the concerns above, the holes are also bigger, as VE run M14 studs, vs the M12 on the VR.
So you will also need the inserts to allow the wheel nuts to properly contact & hold the rim.
Also, make sure the centre spigot bore is properly bored out on a machine to the right size, accurately.
A lot of idiots hog them out with a die grinder (or worse) and forever have problems breaking studs, or endlessly chase driveline vibrations (all the while refusing to see that they created the issue themselves, and will spam up forums complaining about Holden's "weak" wheel studs) |
