Hi again Fastlaner's,

Whats the verdict on Holdens Authenticity Letters?? I was going to get one for my 72 GTS Couple but Holden have advised they may not have its records as a lot of records have been lost....."vehicle records prior to 1989 were stored on physical archives and over the years a number of these archives have become lost or destroyed".

I have heard some people have access to a Holden Database with records, anyone heard of that??

Thanks.
Tania

Holden can do them and they will have the microfiche Service/Warranty records that should contain your HQ. Some cars are not recorded as they never had warranty activated or the mainframe printout that was microfiched was printed before the dealer sent the information back to the GMH zone office. I have found a few cars like this, including a few XU!, A9X, Sandman etc.

Problem is Holden no longer have people issuing the reports that understand how to read the 'fiche coding thus make mistakes more often that they get it right. HHS do a better job BUT unless your car has all its original information HHS will not issue a report afaik - if you don't have the original engine number you'll have to try Holden.

As HK1837 advises GMH has changed a lot recently and with the demise of assembly a lot of knowledge and assistance is no longer there for older vehicles. The trend is moving toward new imported vehicles. At present most of GMH is on holiday as advised in your other post.

HHS will only issue a cerificate if the original is present or known. They use the same info Holden uses when issuing a letter, however some people do not know how to interpret the nubers as well as Ben does, and therefore Holden sometimes issue letters with errors.

But as you do not have or know your original engine number, a Holden letter is all that you can get.
