This is my car which I have owned since around 1975. I purchased it in Canberra from the original owner for $1500. The car is a factory 5 litre 4 speed, 10 bolt diff with tramp rods. It was a delete stripes (bonnett and boot) Silver mink with black interior. He had used the car to tow his caravan. I resprayed the car and added a HT bonnett and grille back then. Took the car off the road in 1978 and it had been in storage until I frieghted it up here in 2009 and started restoring it in April 2012. Hope these photos come through

Looking good Gerard. Great job on the suspension crossmember stencilling.
I'll bet it felt good to get that subframe bolted on.

Thanks for your comments. It is a turning point to get the two basic body pieces together, makes it seem like a car again rather than a big trolley. The stencil on the crossmember was made from a laser cut polycarb ?? material. Also tried to get one made for the tailshaft but as the original numbers on it are an "outline" (not solid like the crossmember) the laser cutter melted the material due to the width of the outline (only about 1mm max) Seems the latest photos I posted here have gone which is a pity as it takes me a month of Sundays to do it. Will try adding a few more when stripes are done.

Hi mate, can't get your pics to work but any chance you can let me know who did your stencils? Need to get some made up for my crossmember, column and booster. Thanks.

I had the stencil made by a local engraving business. Not sure where you are located but if you are interested I can supply their details. I am not familiar with the "pm" process of contacting members but if you send one I can respond with these details.
I will try and attach the detais here of what I sent to them and some photos. As noted in my earlier post they couldn't cut the tailshaft stencil in the material used for the crossmember stencil.
I am interested to know what is stamped on the end of the steering column as I cannot make out these details on my column. Also interested to know what is on the brake booster as I don't recall seeing anything on mine before it was repaired, presuming your car is a HK?

The details of the first stencils are as follows:

Text is: BL These two letters are approximately 23 mm high. The total length of these letters is 33 mm
Below these two letters are the numerals 2805250 These numerals are approximately 15mm high. The total length of these numerals is 80mm which is centred below the
"BL" text with a spacing of 8 mm between the base of the "BL" text and the top of these numerals.

The details of the second stencil is as follows:

Numerals: 37.8 These numerals are approximately 25mm high. The total length of these numerals is 75mm. As noted in the attached photo this is an outline stencil. The outline line-weight is approximately 0.6 or 0.7 mm thick.

Thanks for the reply mate, yeah the column date is usually within 1 or 2 days of what's on your steering box. And here's a pic of booster stencil

Thanks for the photos. Had a look at dismantling photos of the booster & steering column from my car. No sign of a stencilled number on the booster but the steering column photo on this is reasonably clear. Noticed that since cleaning the column thhis stencil isn't so good now, may try to fix this up in the future. A few photos attached of these parts and I have also added some of the photos lost from a previous post.

Nice! Great work on that. May I just ask if you have new additions to the restoration?
