mick you said earlier that the resistors in the VK blower motor could be accessed through the left air vent, how exactly is that? do i need to unbolt them or what?

Take the glovebox out and I think there is an access cutout that might help. Get yourself a Parts catalogue -Illustrations which gives exploded views and is really helpful. I think I dropped the blower motor housing, at least 2 screws undone in the plenum chamber, could be more, to access the resistor bank.

Balfizar thanks. have been trying to locate a parts manual, bit strange the shop manual does not cover this.

I've found the best access to the heater resistor is thru the LH vent.
Use a small screwdriver to remove the upper swivel vent & then use a long Philips screwdriver to go between the blades of the lower swivel vent to undo the 2 screws which retain the whole assembly.
Pull the vent assembly out & then the hole remaining in the dash is large enough to access the resistor.

Thanks Terry when the furnaces of hell die down over here will be able to get some work done have to work out in the open, not funny every time you pick up a spanner you need asbestos gloves!
