Hello all,
I am seeking some advice as to the cause of the transmission (T700) being slow to change.
On cold start up, the trans takes a long time to change through the gears.
After the car reaches operating temperature,maybe 15 minutes, the trans starts to operate normally.
Any advice very welcome.

ATF level? Colour good, not burnt smelling? That's all I can offer,but have you tried the justcommodore forums, or even an

It depends on which which version you have. Is this a 4L60 from a VN/VP, or is it a 4L60-E from a VR/VS or later. Which model do you have ?

The earlier type is purely hydraulic, in which case you may have an internal seal, teflon or clutch issue. As Premier 350 has said, check the fluid quality etc. first.

The later type is has electric solenoids to operate the valve body, so it may just be an electrical or electronic fault. This can be diagnosed on a scanner, once again as long as the fluid & the basics are checked first.

Thank you for your responses.
The transmission is the 4L60. There appears to be no slipping, just a refusal to change to the next gear.
ATF is fresh and clean with no signs of fluid darkness.
As I am not skilled enough to attempt any internal repairs, what would be the worst that could happen if I continue to drive the car?
This is only a weekend driver and is driven maybe once a month.

Sounds like the kick-back cable is adjusted correctly; cause it to 'hang on' onto gears. Try adjusting it 'back' a notch.

the governor valve in the back of the gearbox sticks in these when there cold, a shop should be able to fxt it situ for you.
