Had this issue on my hz ute with new brake rotors glazing over and squealing. Turned out right stub axle was bent and left hub was loose on the bearing causing it to marginally move so replaced stub axle and bearings, new rotors and pads again.
Within 150kms glazed and squealing again. Took to brake shop had rear wheel cylinders, drums and shoes replaced and on the front reco booster, new/ exchange master cylinder, exchange reco proportioning valve, exchange reco calipers. Machine rotors.
Done about 150 kms and not yet glazed but left side especially is squealing quite loudly. Any thoughts here?
Brake pads are bendix and rotors were protex? both times supplied by autobarn.
Could it just be poor quality rotors? By the way I am not a heavy braker and never had this problem before so not thinking driving style.

I replaced the rotors and pads on my HT and had the same issue, i tried spray for the rotors and an adhesive product for the back of the pads but neither worked. One brake expert said the system is designed for asbestos pads and it is difficult to avoid the squealing without them. I eventually found a set of stainless steel shims for behind the pads and these pretty much fixed the problem.
I've also had the same issue with motorcycles from the '70's.

The shims that Byron speaks of were original factory fitment on the old Girling/Girlock twin piston callipers from the late 60s & early 70s. They were part of their basic design.

The HZ single piston calipers, didn't have shims & to my knowledge are not available, as they are not required.

One thing many mechanics, even so called brake experts, forget is to clean the rotors after machining with a brake cleaning solvent or similar to get rid of the excess graphite dust from the surface of the rotor generated by the machining process. This dust combined with non-asbestos pads will always produce glazing & noise.

What brand of calipers does you car have fitted. HZs can have either alloy Girlocks or alloy PBRs, Girlocks being the better of the 2.

I've found the modern ceramic based pads give the best results re: noise & dust etc. I currently use Hi-Q brand from Korea, which are the OEM suppliers to Hyundai/Kia.

Theyre the girlock alloy calipers. The current pads are bendix cts from memory. Are Hi-Q going to make hz pads though? Kingswood country sell trw pads I wonder if theyre any good.

I'd never seen these shims before on any of my cars, I guess they may have been discarded during pad changes over the years. I found them on eBay and have since copied the design for Kawasaki Z1 calipers.
The HT brakes still do squeal sometimes however.
