Hi, i have a xf falcon fairmont 6 cylinder auto. The transmission is stuck in drive, even whilst in park, neutral or reverse. Cannot drive the car backwards and cannot push the car whilst in neutral.
Any advice you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. Id prefer to fix this problem my self but i just dont know what the problem is.
Thanks in advance

Hi Denn, Have you had a look underneath to check that the linkages to the trans haven't come adrift?

Is the box oil nice and red or does it have a burnt look and smell to it? Have you been manually shifting the box? If the answer is yes to any of these chances are the box is kaput. Wonder over to a scrap metal yard and pull a box out of a wreck there.

The Z link may be broken. The Z link is a Z shaped linkage within the box like a bit of heavy gauge wire in the shape of a Z, which links the movements from your external linkages to the valve chest. You will need to drop the oil pan to investigate.
