hi guys,
jus regarding my 308 HJ ute, backed up by a 2speed. I was dragging the other nite,on my own private strip :). and on about 300metres my car started starving for fuel, so i had to back of and only run 3qaurter throttle. Now the question is, will changing the float level in the quadrajet do anything to help??or should i upsize the jets a little, iam running size 76jets atm in a prepollution carby, and the guy at the carby place said these will be big enough as they were used in the brock commodores, but i think the 2speed might be asking more from the motor...or could it be something entirely different???
Also on an argument i was having with my brother, will a motor detinate if it is starved of fuel??
thanks guys
john...

Early quadrajets known to starve on drag strip. On stock early 308's the 4MV quadrajets run #76 jets for auto transmission (45B pins), but run #77 jets for manual transmission. If your engine has any work done (even just ignition and extractors) than you

Yes, what I'd do to start with (pretty cheap stuff here for big gains) is:

1) Change to #78 jets (do not go bigger, these are available from CSC in Burwood, NSW)
2) Reset float level (see my last post)
3) Increase needle/seat assembly to a edelbro
