Hi all, whats the best way of removing a drum brake drum where the drum is stuck on the axle in the center???


I know its not the shoes holding it in due to a lip on the drum, its definately locked hard in the center.

Go for a drive and give the brakes a good warm up. Get home quick and take the wheel off. Apply some WD40 or similar to the hub(lots of it), and back the brakes right off. Use a wooden or rubber/nylon hammer to assist dislodging it. ( also, not saying you

You can lightly heat the drum with oxy-accetelene and it should nearly pop off ! otherwise bash it

Put the wheel nuts on so they cover the threads in case you miss (screw the well o if you only put them on a couple of threads and nudge them they will go over sideways and stuff the threads) and belt the centre of the axle with a 5 pounder a couple of ti
