guys, chasing info on years or models the blue motors came out in? and any variances in them to red motors, I have heard about the cast bracket holes for air cond etc but is that really the only diff? can anyone help

Blue motor was in the VC and VH, Black motor is almost identical and was in the VK. The big differences were a fully counterweighted crankshaft, bigger better conrods, a HEI ignition system,a 2 barrel Varijet Carby and a 12 port head. There were numerous

To the best of my knoledge- VC to VH modles. Better head flow, 4bbl carb and manifold, electronic ign, 9.2:1 for 5L, 9.0:1 for 4.2L The other thing is commodors have differant water pump shaft lengths due to belt location. Better motor than the red

WB Holdens also had a blue motor. They also had bigger clutches, and a few water passages different on the top of the block. The rods are basically the same as a 1973 Bathurst XU-1, except the rod bolts are slightly larger in the blue/black motor.
