Would the HK have 5 litre on it?
I thought they had 307 & 327 badges, but the 5L didn't appear until later in the HT or something?
Was before my time though, so others probably have a better idea! |
Cheers,

HK have engine designation on front guards below style line, same as HT, except 6 cylinder HT has above style line, HG on rear, except brougham that still has on front guards as per HT. (HG Prem might have on front guards also, would have to check)

The 5-litre badge on the HK and HT has always stood out as a 'what the...', when every other Holden of the time had engine cubic inch badges ie 186, 186S, 253, 308, 327, 350 etc., yet the engine number prefixes were all imperial. I know with the LC/LJ ser |

There is no such thing as a 307 badge on the Holdens, the HKs with 307s in them only had the 5Litre flag badges on the front of the guards. the Premier tailgate engine capacity badges first came out on the HT so your HK did not have them. Cheers, Pete. |
Cheers, Pete. Old Holdens never die, they just go faster. |

Saw an original HK Brougham yesterday. It had front guard 5-litre badges only. No boot badge. |

Byron,
Your previous note about metric and inperial, Torana was always metric and Holden did not go metric until HJ. the exception being the 5 litre 307 engine. Part of this wold haveben the fact they wanted a differe4nce between the 307 and up coming

Hi Guys.
I was always under the impression that the 'Series 70' engine badge in the HB series was to signify that it had 70 hp, compared to the standard engine's 56 hp. Both engines have the same 1159 cc capacity which is also around 70 ci,

That rings a bell with me too Dr Terry. One of my brothers-in-law and another mate of mine both had the Brabham HB's back in the early - mid 70's and I'm sure they said the same thing...the 70 was HP not capacity.
Cheers...Dave
