Ok i bought a disk diff the other day it came with the booster and master cyl, the guy i bought it off said it came off a hz statesman and i was wondering if theres any way to check as one of my mates said they only had 10 bolt sailsburys where as this is a 2.78 12 bolt the booster is a pbr type as is the master cyl the booster is quiet deep where as the previous drum type off my current holden is rather widered like a frypan is easyiest way to describe it
Any help would be appreicated

The HZ disc brake booster is a lot smaller in 'diameter' than the drum brake one. How do you know you have a 12 bolt? There has never been a 12 bolt 2.78 diff fitted to a Holden. The lowest ratio was 3.55 or 3.73 I think, and these were only in HK/T/G 818

ahh well i was told it was a 12 bolt by the bolts holding the rear cover on but if it go's by what you say then it is infact a 10bolt and is definatly a 2.78 as thats what is stamped on the diff body itself as well as the crown wheel

Hi Guys.

To my knowledge the 2.78 ratio was superceded by the 2.60 ratio in late 1975, well before the intro of the HZ rear disc set-up.

You can swap all the disc brake stuff (including axles) to any large 10-bolt Holden Salisbury diff. This may be
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

We had this problem at work.
A guy in Hobart wanted a 12 bolt Salisbury for his Torana.
We told him that Salisburys were 10 bolt unless he wanted early Chev, and they were pretty scarce and probably wouldn't fit his Torana without modification anyway.
