hi guys the clutch on my HZ Kingswood van (202 and 3 on the tree!) is like a truck clutch and take up is pretty much as soon as the pedal is off the floor ... is this normal? will a pedal height and fork adjustment cure the take up and heaviness? i've drien a mate's HQ 202 ute and the pedal is a heck of a lot lighter ... cheers frank

Sounds to me that your cable is about to go bang, ( worn out ) under the drivers side you will find the adgustment screw you will need two 9/16 open enders and you need to screw it out. You might not get much out of it if it is already hard to push. Had a

Is it a half cable and half rat trap (push type clutch fork) or a full cable (pull type clutch fork)? |

Good topic. My HZ Sandman has the pull fork (better than linkage) I modify it. The problem is even when you are not using the clutch the weight of the pedal and the pedal pivot spring always leaves the bearing touching the preasure plate fingers. We all

G'day Frank, You would be surprised how much heavier a clutch is when the cable is worn, I replaced mine recently and it when I tried the new one out it felt like I had put a power clutch in because I was so used to how it was before, and wish I had done

thanks heaps for the info - its an early HZ (October '77 - I guess they don't come much earlier than that!), so Byron, I guess its the half an' half ... but I will replace the cable ... any other tricks I should know? oh and another query

Yes, it will drop straight in, and will run, but probably a bit rough until you:
- replace the (yellow I think, or pink, can't remember) wire coming from the ignition switch to the positive terminal of the coil with anot

Oh yeah... you may also have an extra wire on the electronic dizzy, that the points dizzy doesn't have. This should go on the negative of the coil - where your tacho (if you have one) also attaches. Mine didn't run until I connected the extra wire.

While on the subject of the elect. ignition , does anyone know of a reputable company , preferably in south western Sydney who does this . My nieces boyfriend is about to drop one in their HX Monaro . He too is a bit concerned about the pinging issue and |
