Hi Bro NZ.

Post the numbers of your body plate & the VIN plate (the VIN plate is the skinny one).

Hi Bro NZ

Here's the breakdown of the VIN

8 = Holden
M = Belmont (for HQ)
69 = 4 door sedan
L = hi-comp 202 engine
C = 73 model year (built between 1/9/72 & 1/9/73)
J3 = body built in Melbourne (Dandenong factory)
5029 = body serial number for

Ben Stewart asked me about JL2 on a HQ Sandman production broadcast sheet the other day. It would be good to know what it is.

Hi Guys.

Yes, Byron is correct, the engine prefix is QL, often misread as OL.

The JL2 option number refers the power front disc brake option, although i've never seen this stamped on a body plate before.

Is this vehicle an NZ assembled car ?

D

JL2 isn't even mentioned on the 2/74 HQ Sandman production broadcast sheet that I have. The particular van is a factory disc brake example, according to the DSC data under BRAKES and also on the GMH build records.

Dr T yes i believe it could be as the plate does have GMH NZ printed on it and the plate number. Once again like a Kingswood S/W i enquired about, it also doesn't have a trim and body plate attached.

Bro NZ

The VIN number of 8M69LCJ35029Q you quoted is missing a digit.
Apparantly NZ Holdens always have the mechanical option on a plate, that is why JL2 is there. A lot of NZ HQ-HZ GTS's had G80 (LSD) listed.

Hi Bro NZ.

When you say you have a Kingswood dash in a Belmont, you mean different instruments, is that correct ?

In Australian HQs, the Belmonts & Kingswoods use the same instruments. Do the NZ Kingswoods get the GTS type set-up or the one with the

Where does the 2 go? You misunderstood on the G80 - I meant it appeared on GTS's. Yours is not an original LSD fitment so it won't have G80.

If your speedo is out it can be due to the profile of your tyres as well. I have low profile tyres and 52mph is acutally 62 mph.
