just put my new engine in and need to know how the ignition is wired.

where do the green and pink wires (from dizzy) go and where does the ignition wire go to? i have wired in a relay from the orginal HQ ignition wire to provide a full 12 volts.

i think i have the green going to the positive side of coil aswell as ignition wire, and pink to negative. thats the way it was when i got it and it did run in the old car. now i have no spark. am i missing any other wires?

G'day Dylan,
You have them the wrong way around, the pink goes to Positive and so does the black wire from the condensor, and also the main ignition wire, the only thing that goes to the negative is the Green wire. Hope this helps, and I also hope and pr

Are you sure the relay is okay?
Try running without it.....I know you won't get the full voltage, but at least you'll be able to ascertain if the relay or wiring is okay, and you should at least get a spark.

Rather than relying on the colours of the wires, grab yourself a wiring diagram and use that to verify you have the correct wires. Most decent maintenancer manuals will have one.

Follow the circuit and then test that you have the correct wires.

i tested the wiring with the test light, the wire going into the relay is live when the ignition is on and while cranking, there is no problems there.

what sort of grease do i need to use on the ignition module when i replace it?

If using HQ wiring the pink is used with the engine idling. The pink wire has an inbuilt balance resistance in it. The yellow cable is used in the cranking mode. Both pink and yellow join at the bulkhead and come out in yellow only for the dizzy.
