what oil do you peoples recommend for a hz 5litre v8 im currently using mobil xhp 20w50

Hi OD,
Go buy some Penrite ! Get rid of any BIG name oil. Its rubbish. Depending on the condition of your motor, pick any Penrite from 20 to 40 grade. Best oils I have used.

thinking of changing to15w50 from 20w50 is this grade ok for this type of motor

Yep I'm with John on this one, I run a Penrite 20W-50 in my HZ 308 and it works great, nil oil usage and so far no problems with the engine (probably shouldn't put that into words). I will third that notion, all I use throughout all of my cars is Penrite! great oil! We even used to run five Harleys out at Ayers Rock on it, air cooled bikes riding hard in forty degree heat, cant recommend it enough! Cheers Matt

Im with you guys - HPR30 for my 202 since day one! Penrite is the only oil i have and will ever use!!
Don't bag the UC, it might just be the car that kicks ur ass!!

Here's how i work it...
If the motor (old holden motor - that is) is rebuilt within the last 80 000kms, 15w50 or anything up to 50, if its getting a little old and tired, 25w60 (hence what im using)!
The older motors tend to start using oil a bit mo

I use Shell helix ultra (full synthetic) in my LPG HZ 308. Uses a little bit (about 1L per 10,000kM). You can pick it up at Supercheap on special for about $45/5L. |

I have always used Valvoline XLD plus. My Falcon has done 420,000 kays & still runs fine. My last Falcon did 291,000 before being written off & I pulled the head, the thing still had the hone marks in the bores. My VP Commodore has done 200,000+ & still r |

Im with Jim. Valvoline. Did many years on the old engine using it, and I fully expect to get many more on the new engine using Valvoline again.

At work we have used Castrol in all of our industrial engines for the past 15 years. These engines run 24 / 7 and have racked up 100,000 hours. Thats around the world many times. We pull the engines down every 30,000 hours and they look brand new. Im conv

I used to have a diesal, and it literally used more oil than fuel, untill i put in fuch,s,, fusch,s??hhmm?? anyway that one? it never used a drop after that, and even ran betterer after? cheers
