If it's a V8 you can convert it to an EFI out of a VN, but I wouldn't do that as it would be cheaper to buy a VN. You could also convert it to a later V6, but again probably cheaper to buy a complete car and sell the VL. You are probably better off spendi |

VL Nissan donk....a very good engine. Pity about the electical system beneath it.
Also if you are not mechanically minded and DO NOT have a swag of tools, get the timing belt replaced. Now ! With tools its easy, without tools, its a pain !
Cheers,

and keep an eye on the temp gauge. alloy heads on the VL's seem to like to warp if not looked after. just an exhaust, filter, diff ratio change will make a noticable difference.

you can get the gears in your diff changed so that the ratio is different. it can increase acceleration, but lowers top speed. if you only change it a little bit, you wont really notice the top end speed change. a "sports clutch" is just a heavy duty o

OK, it sounds like you are a true novice. If I were you I would follow all of the advice above, especially getting the cooling system checked and cleaned. This is important in a VL. My second choice would be the timing belt also as suggested above. By the |

A heavy duty clutch will not make gear changes smoother. It may have the opposite effect in that they can be a bit "grabbier" and will be a lot more sensitive to pedal position. What they will handle is being dumped on alot better (boy racer take-offs). |

He means a higher flowing air filter I think. The EFI electrics on a VL are inferior to later stuff. It's one of the prices to pay for having a car with older technology. Don't sweat, they can be troubleshooted readily and there are heaps of VL's left to |

Tilly I am not knocking you but you really picked the wrong car if you are inexperienced enough not to know about diff ratios etc. If you want to learn about cars you would have been far better off to pick an earlier model, even a VH or carby vK. They ar
