Does anyone know somewhere online that I can buy an electronic ignition setup to replace the points in my 308.

In the FS section on here I have a HEI setup from a blue motor for sale.

Just buy a blue of black (pre VL) 253/308 dizzy and coil. It fits straight in, but on a red 308 you are best off not using the massive cap but using a points dizzy cap with an XD/XE Cleveland rotor button. You will also have to run a new wire from the ign

Hi Byron,

What's the difference between a VK and VL V8 dizzy? I only ask because I don't know and I thought they were the same bar some advance curve differences...

i have a large cap dizzy in my HQ (308) and it doesnt come close to hitting the firewall, i dont see any need to use a small cap on it. WB's had the same firewall and still use the big cap.

It doesn't hit the firewall on a red motor, but fouls on the vacuum 'tree' that the brakes, auto trans modulator etc connects to. It still fits, but only just and the brass tree limits how much you can spin the dizzy for advance adjustment. When you have

I fitted a standard cap to my GTS which has electronic ignition fitted and I found the standard holden rotor button fits just fine.

No problems at all. Maybe the XD ones are the same.

maybe it just isnt a problem for me because i have the entire blue motor.
