Hi people

I'm on the other side of the world to you guys but I run similar cars and I'm after a bit of help - I'm not sure if I can link to pictures on here but I'll have a go

Heres my track day tool - 3.0i 12V 180 Bhp 20 yrs old with 200,000 miles under it's belt - I'm only the second owner and still does 140 if you plant the load pedal 8) I'm converting it to a GM 24V six at the moment



It had one of these in it



This is what is going in it









Heres the previous project - Senator 3.0 24V Auto - Dead engine from a snapped timing chain - currently being rebuilt too - slowly!!!



My questions are simple to start with - what are the Holden model equivilents?

G'day mate - welcome to Australia!!
I am guessing (don't worry someone will correct me if wrong) that our RB30 engines (out of the VL commodores) are similar. They were also avaiable as RB20 and RB25turbo - obviously the 30, 20 & 25 stands for 3.0L, 2.0L

When you say it does 140 when you plant the pedal I assume that is Miles Per Hour?

Hi bstardchild.
I would say that the first car is a cross between a holden VK-VL and the second car is positively the same as the holden VN to VP series commodore.
Would probrbly be a good idea to measure the bushes you want replaced and send that info

The coupe looks like a chevy monza and the sedan VN-VP for sure

That's exactly what it is, and you can get that bush in Oz quite easily from most suspension places.

It is the bush that mounts the IRS cradle to the bodyshell, and is fitted from VQ (VP) right thru to current models with IRS.

I would hazard a guess

Without going into too much history, the first series of Commodores in Australia was built by using a Senator A nose onto a Rekord C body. This was done back in 1978 & the reason for the longer nose was, while we used the German body, al

One thing overlooked is that the Opel base was not structurally strong enough for Australian conditions and was significantly modified after they developed a habit of breaking in half. Also probably due to the Aussie engines. The engines you show in your

The australian VN-VS series that ran from 1988 to 1997 (and into 2000 in some variants) looks to be the most similar in design to those "cracked" pics you have posted.

Our sedans have a much more substantial rear bulkhead behind the rear seats than the

Footnote to the above post - the guy above was very unfortunate - he was restoring his Lotus Carlton and had the engine & gearbox fully rebuilt at a engineering workshop - there was a fire (electrical fault in the building) and the whole paise was burnt t
