i'm new to this site, actually i'm new to computers. I was wondering if someone would take a look at my munro's numbers and I.d. it for me. Body; "HK80737-30123M" TRIM; "1153-14X" PAINT; "587-1764" . there isn't any INSERT number nor any TOP number. On the second (smaller) tag is "80737K J136855" and stamped into the firewall is "HK 30409M" Also on firewall directly underneath the "M" is another "M" stamped. I read the post titled "68 monaro info" by leith and byron rich's reply and i went lookies in the shed. my munro don't have ahump for the 10 bolt, speedo is under the booster, i have a shifter hump welded between x-member and seat mounts and looking for the bulge for a saginaw linkage, i dunno, there is a slight diffrence between left floor and right, but only slight , oh and drifting into my last post the steer box has "9D8" stamped on it. hope you can help, thanks. |

It's a Dandenong built HK GTS 186S. This is gleaned from the 80737, no 10-bolt hump and the speedo cable position. It could have been an Opel 4-speed or Powerglide auto.
All the numbers on the VIN plate and the chassis number on the firewall (complete |

Hi Guys.
Byron, I think 80737k means an engine number to suit his body/chassis numbers.

4 of the 5 of the ones you listed before are NOT right for the car: 9D8 9/4/68 - too early. 21C8 21/3/68 - too early. 2F1 2/6/71 - way too late. 20M7 2/12/67 - way too early. The one with 16.7 on it may be, but check for the date code in th Edited by user Monday, 5 December 2005 1:14:45 AM(UTC)

Hi 80737k.
In the 1KC stamping, the C should be a numeral not a letter, could it be a 9 or a 0? In that case it reads 1st Oct '69 or 1st Oct '70. A bit late in either case.

Get the box anyway as 16.7 boxes pull good money. |

Your Monaro is a late September 1968 build. So you are looking for a steering box with something like 25J8 or 1K8. You may have to settle for a normal box, and get it rebuilt using the internals out of the 16.7:1 box you have, and then you can truthfully |
