I want to get the standard tacho working in the ute and was hoping someone could tell me which wire in the loom hooks up to the tacho or do I run a separate wire like an after market one does.

Thankyou Chris

Brown is usually the tacho wire colour.

Depends on what model as some do not have the wire in the harness.

Thanks Warren, It's a HX I will have a look at the wiring again.
Would putting power to different wires make the tacho "twitch" when the right wire is found, or do they work of earth?

Easy way to test a tacho, is to run a wire directly from the

On an HX you will have a blank brown wire in the engine harness connector, just behind the engine, go from here to the wire that goes to the distributor.

Thanks for your help very appreciated. Tacho is working now. The person who owned the car before me must have been a part time auto sparky, there's wires running everywhere that go nowhere. Thanks again for the help.
