Has anyone successfully done this conversion? Can you use the VN wiring harness, computer and coil pack? Are there any issues with the VN gearbox being used. Thanks.

If it's auto, no probs.
If it's manual, early VNs are unsuitable (different crank & flywheel).

If it's an early VN you'll need to extend the wires for the coolant temp sensors. You'll also need to replicate the VR cooling system into it.

I believe that you can also use the VR coil packs & DFI module as they are reputedly better than the earlier ones. (Commonly the whole assembly of the three coil packs & the DFI module is mistakenly referred to as the coil pack)

That's correct Jim - the VN coil pack is a 1 piece unit, where the VR ones are 3 individual coils.

They are plug & play into a VN as long as you have the the whole assembly, ie, the coils + the DFI module that sits under the coils.
