Tell us about your fast street cars. Times that you've run at the drags. (Not interested in street racing crap, dragstrip times only) What type of car, what mods etc.

I know it's not a holden , but my old mans 1985 Porsche 928 V8 is a beast. This thing goes straight to 190km/h in damn near 13 seconds with plenty more to go. Drives sooo sweet with 275's on the arse and 235's on the front! These things are 300+ HP from

Run a 17.83 over the 1/4 in a 1975 VW Kombi van. If you wanna be smart and say that is not fast, I will race ya. Then you have to tell everyone you are into racing Kombi vans! |

I am not laughing Peter. That is not a bad time for an old Kombi. If my memory is correct cars like the Morris Cooper S, the 273 V8 Valiant and the brilliant early seventies 2 litre fuel injected manual 504 Peugeot also ran mid 17s.

Cool kombi. I had to rebuild one at a place I was working yrs ago. It was a 2lt with twin carbs and extractors. I put some new rings in and had to replace the heads, as it had been cooked and had a hole in one. I got a set of 1800 heads, which have smalle

I have run the EH, and it was dismal. There were issues that were not allowing the engine to go to 4000 rpm without pinging like an Iveco diesel. I have a new cam and ignition changes now, and I see no pinging at all. Just have to get it on the track one |

That sounds like the SS on the one and only time I raced it.It would not rev over 4700 rpm (ignition moduel).IT managed 91.46 mph on the second pass in 15.026 seconds and the best time it ran was 14.657 on a 14.700 dial in at 90.81 in the third round afte Edited by user Monday, 26 March 2007 7:00:01 AM(UTC)

One less gear change ? or did you only use 3 gears in the 4 spd as well. So I gather there are some real fast well tuned street cars out there or just no time slips. So Sandman if the vans the tow car whats your race car.

The Sandman ute used to tow the race car. But it's been off the road getting full rebuild. But gearbox and diff from the ute is in the PVan. Ute has a 377 and the van has a 383 built out of letovers. But it inhertited the heads off the ute last yr, cos I

Yep, Thats the one. But the body I have has been cut down into a ute, so gonna build a nice lightweight back for it. Get some fibreglass panels made for the front. Also the one I've got has a split windscreen in it. I reckon they've got a really cool loo Edited by user Saturday, 31 March 2007 12:25:05 AM(UTC)

I'm planning a Prem project. either HQ/J/X/Z or WB (wb ute only). I originally wanted to run my 186 in there, but i don't like the look of inline cylinder engines. Thus my next idea is a 262 chev, or a V6 ecotec/ or VN-VR. After the conversion is done the
