Hi everyone, on the way home tonight my landi converter froze up and the car stopped ( 186 Prem).. first tried removing the thermostat..no joy..drove for 10 minutes then Froze again.. its worked well for 30 odd Thousand Kays.. i am thinking its full of goop ! Can someone suggest a way to clean this and anything else i need to do..( New Gaskets /Seals Etc ) i have read somewhere that a clean may fix the converter... I aint rich and prefer to spend my money on other toys.. Is this a straightforward job ? I have also read that Antifreeze should be used with a converter..Whoops...have NOT been using that..and also it should be mounted below or level with the heads ..Better Flow to converter.... Thanks a lot Guys and Gals.... Hope to fix this little sucker soon !

When you flushed the convertor, did you bleed the water gallery in it to make sure there isn't an air bubble?
It might be time to go to a radiator shop and have your cooling system pressure reverse flushed.

While you were flushing the hoses, was there a good flow of water through the converter? A converter will not freeze with hot water in it so you either have a restriction inside the converter that is preventing adequate water flow or hot water is not ge Edited by user Friday, 30 March 2007 8:01:11 PM(UTC)

I've had a converter freeze up before due to an air lock as Dave suggested. I always thought it was better to mount the converter below the top of the radiator so there is less chances of getting air locks in the converter.
Also while you're reverse fl
