Howdy,
Apart from the 2 carbs, did X2 motors have any other goodies in the head or cam department? Were the blocks differently numbered? I have a HR 186 & have been thinking about building it as an X2.

Hi Beige.

Yes, there are differences with the cam, head, bearings, manifolds and dissy curve.

A real HR 186 X2 motor will have an engine number of somewhere between 186K1001 to 186K162700.

Hi Siggs.

Yes, the X2 motor does get a steel crank, but Beige was asking about the differences between a standard 186 & a 186 X2. All 149, 179, 161 & 186 up to April 1967 also have steel cranks and the production of the X2 ceased around the same time.

So realistically there's probably no point in building it to X2 specs (unless it was a genuine X2) as other combo's would go better & an X2 clone would be worth the same as an 'average' worked 186, because serious buyers would want an X2 engine number...?

Dr Terry .If the X2 heads and dissys were modified is there a differant part number for them or is there any other way to id them as being X2.It time for a clean up and Id rather not get rid of something I may need later. While I am asking about the X2. Di
