Can anyone ell me if the crown and pinion gears are interchangable from commodore salisbury diffs to the HQ V8 diff gears and if so are the hemi's as well.

Hi Reece.

There are 2 different Holden 'Salisbury' diffs.

The so-called 'Large' Salisbury was fitted to all HQ to WB V8s, All One-Tonners (HQ to WB), LX Torana A9X & 5.0-litre V8 Commodores from VB to VK. It was also available as the heavy duty opt
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

I think 3.08 large salisbury are the same hemisphere as 3.36 to 4.44.
2.6 and 2.78 are the same as each other.
I think it's the banjos that are common centres between 2.78 and 3.08.

Although rare, the VB Rally car had the large salisbury as

That's why I said "from memory". I couldn't remember where the cut-off was.

The problem with swapping banjo diff gears, is that the 2.78 & 3.08 won't fit into the cast housing used 3.36 & down. That's why they had the casing with the 2 lon
