Having a problem with the gear selector on my HZ column shift T400. After fitting a new blinker switch on the weekend, it seems something has gone 'boing' and the lever won't lift past the stops in Park etc. The springyness in the lever forward and back is not there anymore. It was getting stiff prior to the fixit job I did too. Any ideas on how to fix this, is there a spring or something that may have fallen out/dislodged?? Am I looking at another column, if so, are the Trimatic column shift columns the same, I hope so, there's more of these around!!

Thanks

Peter

I'm 99% sure the columns are the same. I've converted a HJ column TH400 to a column trimatic before, and you only have to change it from the column lower arm where the shift rod attaches to the gearbox.

Thanks for that, seems I may have found the problem, I may have either fitted the aftermarket wheel too tight or too loose as I can move the lever forward to lift over the gate, but the steering wheel moves towards the column at the same time.

You can't Dale AFAIK. It sounds like you have broken the tabs that hold the column at the correct length but break in an accident allowing the column to collapse instead of impaling you.

You need another column.

column is the same as any column auto...t400 stuff is unique from the base of the column only...linkages etc...
going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car...
