Im all new to this but can someone tell me what they mean on the 308 V8 what the "TURBO" pattern means?

There are 2 different gearbox bolt patterns on the back of early 308 V8 blocks.
The automatic transmission used from 1974 to 1982 was either the Turbo-Hydramatic 400 or Turbo-Hydramatic 350. These autos used a differently patterned b |

so to bolt a manual to a turbo pattern motor you would need a manual gearbox flywheel to suit

No. it's the pattern on the block itself. You will, of course, need a manual flywheel, but this will bolt straight onto the crank.
If you want to fit a manual box, you will need a different bellhousing to suit the block.
