assuming that a points dizzy is in good nick, and i do my gap and clean' maintainence every few thousand k's, what are the advantages of replacing the distributor with an electronic one in my 253 HQ ute?

and is the factory offering as good as the aftermarket models

You don't *need* to do your gap and clean maintenance. Never set another gap, and our spark plugs stay cleaner longer (better spark with electronic).

Slightly better performance over the entire rev range.

It's a more reliable unit, less chance you'

Electronic is good . Only bad thing I would say is that when I put the dizzy in I didnt know how to staticlly time it as there was no spark at the points cause there isnt any.

Must be another way to do this. I only needed to statically time it to start
If its not broke it will be soon

With engine on TDC #1 comp stroke rotor buton should have just past #1 h/t lead post. only by a fraction. this should be good enough to get running.Assuming dizzy phasing is correct.If you set engine to 22 degrees BTDC the rotor button should be nearly pe
