i've got a 4 speed. has 1 groove on input shaft, serial no 9938391. it says holden 6 on main housing but it definatly is a V8 input shaft. it is also the box that has an "oring and seal" selector shafts, NOT the one with 2 orings.

anyways my problem is a broken clip between 2nd and 3rd gears and it can no longer be purchased "from what i've been told by holden".

i'm wondering if i can use a clip from the input shaft bearing. it is wider, but i've checked and the wider clip will fit with clearance if i had the groove machined tu suit. look closely at the third picture where i have the wider clip in between. there is still a little clearance but i'm not sure on how much end float i should have or even if this idea is feasable. if it works i'd have a more heavy dudy clip aswell.

any transmission gurus advice would be great on the matter or maybe know of a simple easy fix

I have never rebuilt one of these gearboxs before but rebuilt plenety of truck gearboxes and hydrualics for mining equipment, 99% of stuff is built to a standard not just random sizes you should be able to get the clips you need from a fastner or bearing

Hi coley

What bundy said will sort your circlip problem, but that front shaft part number is a bit strange.

You have 9938391, but the closest genuine number I can find is 9930921, which is the front shaft for a 6-cyl M22.

Dr Terry
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

i've checked all the spares places, bearing shops and transmission people in town with no luck.

if anyone has this clip i'm after or knows of where to get one let us know. i'd prefer to get the right one so i dont have to modify anything.

cheers c

In relation to the circlip have tried specialty fastener places like Coventry, Mullings or Blackwoods?

James

You only have to be in front at the end of the race.
