First off what sort of box are they ML4 code on the plate ?
And why did they have linkage or cable ,when was the change over ?
Just change motor and box in a VL and there was so many differnces
between the 2 motors and the same for the 2 boxs, different power steer pump,
oil pressure sendor, different shifter setup and didnt notice that things
had to be changed till it was all in so what a pain in the butt.

Hi hz dude.

There were many small changes made during the VL production run. AFAIK the change from cable shift to rod shift occurred around Nov '86. The ML4 auto trans used was a Jatco 4-speed.

There were 2 different types of P/St pumps used on VL 6
