the only decent times you are going to get, with decent power and economy, is if you put a turbo or supercharger on it. i know of a torana that runs low 13s with a small supercharger on gas, great power, and didnt cost too much. (SC14 supercharger is $400

The cheapest, and best bang for buck performance upgrade you will ever get with a 186 is to take the 186 crank and scrap it. Then do the same for the block. Then go to a wreckers and buy a 202 block and crank for $25. And rebuild it, doing basically as Ro Edited by user Wednesday, 27 February 2008 2:03:04 PM(UTC)

For what reason though? To make it go harder? The best way to do this is to increase torque, and you do this with a 186 by stroking it, which is what a 202 is. I reckon the 186 revving harder is a myth anyway. If it's not it's only a few hundred rpm, and Edited by user Wednesday, 27 February 2008 2:16:18 PM(UTC)
