G'day, a bloke at work has given me one just wondering if i could get some advice about them and info etc etc he said it was out of a xd or xf its a boarg warner

Behind a 6 cyl they are a nice reliable strong box. Even behind a 302 they survive well. The 351 variants had different ratios but I'm not sure if they were stronger or not.

ive got a 302 in xd and blown 3single rails.go the t5 with sum minor mods(bellhouseing)etc...

I'm planning to use a Toploader behind a mild 265 Hemi but the prices they're starting to get has me a little conserned so i'm thinking single rail.
I assume from the above posts that a single rail is up to the task but is there any diffrence to a Valia

A Ford Single rail is nowhere near as strong as a Toploader but does share the same clutch and bellhousing as a small block toploader.

Also the last vehicle I drove that had a toploader was a real s h i t due to the crappy external linkages that they are hampered with. The single rail is a much smoother shifting box.

Thanks for the info Jim. I have priced a bellhousing for the ford box onto hemi (IIRC $450ish). I think i'm better off doing the Ford box in the long run so will stick to the plan but if when the time comes to buy a box that i gotta pay a huge price for a

I'm not sure about the strength but the 351 single rail has different ratio's to the 6 cyl/302 box.
