The Foam Jack Holders have already been remade properly in Styrene in China by Greg Thackery in Alfords Point NSW . See ebay auction Item number: 150273768270 even though he is not saying they are reproduction they definitely . Les Unfortunately the one you guys at Rare Spares are attempting to make is like a Soft Urethane and are nothing like the original at all . Regards Bill .

You will find the guy selling these on ebay is not telling people that his tool kit holder is a repro, which will only upset customers when they find out and look at the price it went for with Tools (over $900). The tooling costs for many reproduction products become unviable due to methods not used anymore . These tool kit holders cannot actually be made from the original material anymore anyway , as the chemicals contained in the styrene they used back then have been found to be carcinogenic (truth i found out from an ex employee of the original manufacturer). A bit like asbestos in brakes or lead in the paint Holden used way back then has had to be deleted . So any product that these are to be made from will have to be a compromise anyway .The styrene goes brittle in time(remember they used to make eskies out of these in the 70s and they are not around anymore!!!) So the Rare Spares option is quite a good one and will be affordable for all due to a lower tooling cost , and these will last longer than the original style and will probably outlast the cars themselves. Thats my 2 cents worth.

It is appreciated that your knowledge of the material is passed on.Companies are also experiencing problems where various metal plating processes are becoming outlawed, even in developing countries. The tool holders do look good and will be welcomed by many who want to stop the spare wheel tools flying around the boot.

Hi i was wondering what an original one would be worth if you could find one. I think i know where one is and wanted to know what worth. i saw one on ebay a while ago and he had 2500 on it. Is that realistic?
