I have a Holden HJ Monaro and it is fitted with standard engine electical system comprising of a points Distributor. During regular maintennace I noticed the writing on the back of the Coil, which is a factory silver coil, it writes "Use With Risisiter". I don't see a resister anywhere on the vehicle. My question is is there a factory fitted resister anywhere on the vehicle? If so where? If it is not fitted with one will this cause damage to my points etc because I think it has a sight electrical problem right at the moment!. Any help is most appreciated.

The resistor is built into the loom. Actually its a special wire, called resistance wiring.

I would never have known. So this risister wire is it behind the firewall i.e in the cabin or in the engine bay? and what colour is it so I can confirm it has not been tampered with?
Appeciate the advice.

You only have to be in front at the end of the race.

I thought it was the pink wire from the ignition switch to the
firewall plug on the inside.
From the out side plug it is a normal wire to the +ve side of the coil.
I could be wrong.

mmazz30 would have to be right, as the coil needs full voltage while cranking, and reduced voltage when running. So it has to be associated with the ign switch.
