Do the VN style V8 heads fot the old non EFI 308/253 block? would i have to change the cam?

They fit on a 308 block, but I think the valves hit the deck of a 253 although they will bolt on. Yes you need a new cam as a few of the valves have swapped position in the head so the lobes have to move too.

You will need new exhaust manifolds as well as the vn heads are evenly spaced and the old heads are not.

You would need a new inlet manifold for the same reasons.

It all starts to add up.
